Carson's Field Cabinet is a personal field archive. It collects only the information you choose to submit when asking about a book or leaving feedback.
In brief
It is not sold, rented, used for advertising, or added to a marketing list. Browsing the site does not add your name or contact details to Carson's request log.
A book request can include your name, contact information, requested shelf or subject, request type, preferred duration, and message. Feedback can include a name and contact method if you choose, its subject, and your note. Each submission also receives a request ID and timestamp, and records whether you consented.
Submission information is used to review and respond to feedback, confirm book availability, arrange a possible free or deposit-based loan or in-person browse, maintain the related request record, prevent duplicate notifications, and protect the forms from misuse. For rate limiting, the site briefly keeps a rotating one-way abuse key derived from the requesting network address—not the address itself. The key stops matching that network after its daily rotation and old keys are purged during routine site activity. They are never used for analytics or visitor profiling. The site does not collect payment-card details; please do not submit passwords, government ID numbers, medical information, or other sensitive data.
Full submissions are saved in the site's private database and shown only in Carson's sign-in-protected owner inbox. A request ID and receipt time—not visitor-provided details—may be copied to a private Google Sheet and included in an email alert to Carson. Submissions are never displayed publicly. Site-hosting, security, Google Workspace, and email providers process information only as needed to provide those services.
The Field Cabinet counts daily views of each public page to understand which parts of the archive are useful. These counts are recorded on the site's own database without cookies, visitor IDs, IP addresses, browser fingerprints, advertising profiles, or cross-site tracking. Only the date, page path, and combined view count are kept, for up to 13 months. Hosting and security providers may separately process routine technical information—such as an IP address, browser details, request timing, and necessary security cookies—to deliver the site, prevent abuse, and maintain reliability under their own practices.
Ordinary submissions are kept for up to 18 months from the date received, then removed from the active site database, private request log, and related notification records during routine cleanup. If a submission relates to an active loan, unresolved dispute, safety issue, deletion request, or legal obligation, the minimum information needed may be kept until that matter is resolved and then for up to 18 additional months. You may ask Carson for access, correction, or earlier deletion by opening the feedback form, choosing Privacy request, and including enough information to identify your submission.
Reasonable access controls are used, but no online system can promise absolute security. This site is not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 should not submit names, contact details, or messages through its forms.
Links to external services, including Instagram, follow those services' privacy practices. This notice may be updated if the site's forms, providers, or data uses change. The effective date at the top will be revised when a material change is published.
